Our vision for KBC is to know Christ and make Him known.
This two-fold emphasis on discipleship is clearly seen in the life and ministry of Jesus our Lord.
Jesus called twelve men to faith and He discipled them. He helped them to grow into committed and sacrificial followers who would later lay down their lives for the Gospel. Jesus also empowered them to disciple others to faith and proclaim the Good News with courageous words, backed up by loving actions and Christ-like character.
Our guiding values:
We look to Jesus as the example for all things we do and say and use scripture for teaching, correcting and training.
We encourage each other to use and develop their giftings and skills and be courageous for the sake of the Kingdom. We all have our part to play in the Kingdom of God.
We are authentic and demonstrate humility in sharing our lives, the joys and the sorrows as we journey through life together.
We welcome and care for friends and strangers alike as we believe everyone is made in the image of God.
We will be known for our love for one another and our grace consistently extended as we speak truth in love. We are a family of God's children living in a broken world.
We seek to share about Jesus across our community and the world through service, giftings, relationships, sharing and demonstrating God’s love.
We seek to follow the promptings of the Spirit and boldly follow where he leads.
Discipleship at KBC
We are on a journey delving into discipleship. We are talking about what does it mean to be a disciple? What does that look like? How can we disciple others?
In 2022 the church family determined being a disciple at KBC meant four things. We use these to inform our gatherings and personal growth:
Learning & Actioning Teaching
We study the Bible and listen to the Holy Spirit and act on it. We desire to be people like Jesus and not people of this world.
As seen in John 13:15; 1 Peter 2:21; Matthew 16:24-26; John 14:23-24; Philippians 4:9
Growing in Relationship with Jesus
We continue to get to know Jesus through our spiritual disciplines and conversations with other believers.
As seen in 2 Corinthians 5:17-21; Matthew 11:28; Ephesians 4:14-16
Caring for Others
We study the Bible and listen to the Holy Spirit and act on it. We desire to be people like Jesus and not We extend Christ’s love through prayer, practical support and encouragement to fellow believers and the vulnerable around us.
As seen in Hebrews 10:19-25; Acts 2:42-47; 4:32-35; Ephesians 4:1-4; 1 Peter 1:22; John 14:15
We pass on our learning, developing believers into maturity and journeying with others to faith.
As seen in Matthew 28:18-20; 1 Corinthians 11:1; Titus 2:1-10; 2 Timothy 2:1-2; 1 Corinthians 11:1
If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.
